
The following individuals have served as Becker Fellows.
Jesse ShapiroAn inaugural Becker Fellow, his dissertation and current research focus on the economics of communication and persuasion, including topics such as advertising, marketing, the news media, and electoral competition.
Shapiro received an A.B. in Economics and A.M in Statistics from Harvard University in 2001 and a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University in June of 2005. He is a Faculty Research Fellow in Labor Studies at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
He joined the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business as an assistant professor of economics in July 2007.

Emily OsterAn inaugural Becker Fellow, her research focuses on issues of development and health and, in particular, the economics of infectious disease.
Oster received her B.A. in Economics from Harvard in 2002 and her Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard in March, 2006.
She joined the University of Chicago Department of Economics in July 2007.
