In 2004, the Becker Center created the Research Professionals program with the goal of training a new generation of scholars at the forefront of research to use the tools of Chicago Price Theory. Research Professionals are given the opportunity to learn the most innovative techniques and methods of the economics sciences by working on the research projects of center faculty and Becker Fellows before entering a graduate program in economics. In addition to their research projects, Research Professionals are encouraged to attend Becker Center events and programs, including the Becker/Murphy Price Theory course.
To be eligible for a position as a Research Professional, a candidate must be a recent college graduate, preferably in the field of economics. The term of the appointment is one to two years before the Research Professional generally enters a graduate program in economics. Research Professionals are required to be in residence at the University of Chicago.
