
Steve was a Research Professional in 2004-2006. His work focuses on how advertisers affect media bias, existence and effects of economic data manipulation, and impact of social scrutiny on time-inconsistent behavior.
Steve worked on numerous projects over his two years at the center including projects on media bias, crime, illicit drugs, the economic origins of Pakistani madrasas, idea diffusion, and online poker.
Cicala received a bachelor's in Economics with Honors and Political Science from The University of Chicago in 2004. His thesis was on the economics of Plato's Republic. At Chicago, Cicala was a University Scholar, a Student Marshall, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He was a research assistant to Gary S. Becker from 2003-2006.
Cicala began work on a PhD at Harvard University in 2006. He was awarded the Harvard and Humane Studies Fellowship.
